The site includes a newsletter builder called Newspack. This newsletter builder is connected to your mass email provider and creates custom mass emails to be sent out at that provider.
Creating a Newsletter:
- Go to Newsletters -> All Newsletters or Newsletters -> Add New
- This opens the Newsletter Builder, this is a version of the website editor that is customized for building newsletters.
- You will be prompted to choose a newsletter layout, or you can start from scratch.
Newsletter Settings:
- On the right side of the screen under the panel called Newsletter you will see settings for:
- Campaign Name (shown in your mass email service)
- Email Subject – Shown as the subject of the email sent out.
- Preview Text – This is shown in the summary line of the email in your inbox.
- From Address & Name
- Send To – Where to send the newsletter, e.g. lists or segments of your list.
- Public Newsletter – If this is set, your newsletter will be published as a page on your website.
Building Newsletters:
The library of blocks you can use for newsletters is more limited, since email clients tend to support less features of the modern web. You have access to most of the core blocks from the website editor:
- Text Blocks
- Paragraph
- Heading
- List
- Share Newsletter Link
- Media Blocks
- Image
- Design / Layout Blocks
- Columns
- Groups
- Separator
- Social Icons
- Posts Inserter
Posts Inserter:
The Posts Inserter block allows you to dynamically load content from your site to display in the newsletter. This will take the form of a list showing your content with an image, title, excerpt, and subtitle.
Previewing & Testing Your Email:
You may be able to send a test email from the newsletter builder, but this depends on your mass email provider. If not, after saving your email you can go to your mass email service and view the draft email there.
Additionally you can usually send a test email from your mass email provider to see how it will look.
We recommend always sending a test email to confirm that the email appears as you would like prior to sending to your full list.
