On most pages, posts, categories and other content types you’ll see a Yoast SEO panel – this panel offers some guidance on crafting content that is readable and follows good practices for SEO and users.
NOTE: The SEO analysis and readability analysis provide guidelines on how to craft content, but are not a hard and fast rule. For example, the SEO analysis will usually show a red / bad status if you don’t provide a Focus Keyphrase, but not all pages need a keyphrase.
- Focus Keyphrase – Used to analyze the SEO of your page, if you’re writing a page about a specific topic, for example a service that you provide, or a local event, then you may set the keyphrase so be the service name or event title.
- SEO Title – Defaults to a site-wide template, that often includes your page title and website name. We recommend keeping the separator and site title portions here, but if you’d like to provide your own title to search engines you can do so by removing the Title variable.
- SEO Meta Description – This is a description provided to search engines to tell them what your page is about. They may also show it in search results but it is not guaranteed. This description should be short, and provide a clear reason for a visitor click and visit your site.
- SEO Analysis – The SEO analysis below the meta description (not visible in this screenshot) provides tips and guidelines for crafting a well-structured page for search engines.
- Advanced – In the Advanced section under the SEO tab you can find settings for hiding your page from search engines.
- Readability Analysis – This tab analyzes and suggests ways to improve the readability of your copy.
